Aerial view of Lake Manix lacustrine deposits exposed to the left (east) of Bassett Point (brown surface), south of Manix Wash. These lacustrine deposits are a rich repository of extinct Pleistocene fauna. They contain datable tephra layers and possible artifacts. It is hoped that they may someday reveal early human remains, becoming America's Olduvai Gorge. F. Budinger photo
